CMTP has been making pallets since 1976, when the business started in a workshop in Colac, Victoria. It is still family owned and still run by the family that started it. Around 250 people across eleven manufacturing sites in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania now supply retail pallets to suppliers, retailers, wholesalers and 3PLs.
A lot of what gets sold as a pallet in this country has passed through somebody’s yard on the way, which means the lead time you are quoted belongs to a third party. We are the pallet supplier and the manufacturer. New pallets are cut, built and stacked on our own lines at the site closest to your DC, so the freight leg is short, the delivery date holds through promotion season, and you run one specification across every warehouse instead of a different pallet in each state.

Should I hire pooled pallets or buy my own?
It depends on your freight pattern. Pooled hire suits closed loops where pallets rotate constantly between the same points. Owning your own pallets usually wins for one-way freight, irregular or seasonal volumes, and any operation tired of hire fees, transfer paperwork and lost-pallet charges. Buy once, and the pallet is yours to use, keep or send with the freight.
What is the standard pallet size in Australia?
The standard Australian pallet is 1165mm x 1165mm. It suits most local racking and truck configurations, but it’s not compulsory: we build custom sizes designed around your product and network. Our pallet guide on the blog covers the common sizes in detail.
What are one-way pallets?
One-way pallets are built for freight that travels in one direction, with no return leg. They’re engineered to do that one trip properly at the right cost, which makes them a smart alternative to paying hire on a pooled pallet you’ll never send back.
Are your pallets heat treated?
Export pallets are heat treated to the ISPM 15 standard (minimum 56 degrees for at least 30 minutes) and individually stamped. For domestic retail use, kiln-dried timber options control moisture so cartons and labels stay clean.
Can you build pallets to match our receiving requirements?
Yes. Tell us the dimensions, load and condition standards your receiving points require and we build to that spec, prototyped by our design team before production if the format is unusual.
How quickly can you supply pallets at peak season?
The honest answer is that peak is exactly when you don’t want to be ordering on the fly. Regular customers schedule supply ahead of their ramp-ups. For everyone else, every quote comes with a confirmed delivery date, so you know where you stand before you commit.
