Pallets in Mildura

Built Locally by CMTP

Mildura covers the north-west Victorian corner, the Murray-Darling food bowl, and across the border into the South Australian Riverland. It’s a region built on agriculture, viticulture, and food production, and the pallet demand reflects that: produce bins, bulk bins, wine pallets, and standard timber pallets in volume through peak harvest.
Regional sites like Mildura matter because freight from Melbourne or Adelaide adds days and dollars to a supply chain already running on tight produce-handling windows. Local manufacturing means a pallet on your dispatch dock the same week you need it, not when the interstate freight arrives.

WHAT WE MANUFACTURE

What We Manufacture at CMTP Mildura

CMTP Mildura manufactures timber pallets, crates, cases and produce bins for the Sunraysia region. Bins are the core of the order book here: one tonne, half tonne and quarter tonne bins for the citrus, grape and vegetable growers who drive the local economy. When the harvest comes in, demand comes with it, and building locally means growers aren't waiting on supply from Melbourne or Adelaide when it counts.

Pallets

Mildura manufactures timber pallets and Wine and Food XP pallets for the surrounding wine regions, in the volumes the Sunraysia harvest cycle demands.

Produce Bins

Produce bins and bulk bins are core to the Mildura order book. Wooden bins protect perishable goods, keep produce fresher for longer, and give growers a sustainable alternative to plastic through the harvest peaks.

Our Story in Mildura

About the Mildura area

Mildura sits in the Mildura Rural City Council, in north-west Victoria’s Sunraysia region. The numbers tell the story: Mildura produces more than 80 percent of Victoria’s grapes, including the bulk of the state’s wine and table grapes, and over 70 percent of Australia’s dried vine fruits. Add the citrus, almond, and stone fruit operations across the Murray-Darling corridor and it’s one of the most concentrated horticultural economies in the country. The tri-state freight pattern is the other distinctive feature: a Victorian council area with the SA Riverland a short drive west and NSW freight moving through constantly.

David Smith

Operations Manager Mildura

David joined CMTP a year ago, after a decade managing a corrugated cardboard business supplying packaging to the viticulture and horticulture industries. That is the same customer base Mildura serves through every harvest, so he knows what growers are actually up against. He works face to face and takes a practical view of the job: the packaging has to do what the grower needs it to do, so the product reaches the end user in one piece and on time.

Frequently Asked Questions

About Pallets in Mildura

Do you manufacture pallets in Mildura?

Yes. CMTP manufactures timber pallets, export pallets and custom pallet solutions from its Mildura facility, supporting customers across the Sunraysia region, the Murray-Darling corridor and the SA Riverland.

What types of pallets are available from your Mildura site?

The Mildura facility manufactures standard timber pallets to AS 4068, Wine and Food XP pallets, produce bins and bulk bins, and packaging consumables.

Do you deliver pallets outside Mildura?

Yes. The Mildura site services the Sunraysia region, Swan Hill and the Mallee, and delivers into the South Australian Riverland and along the Murray-Darling corridor, with weekly interstate transport to all states.

Can CMTP design custom pallets for specific products?

Yes. Custom pallet solutions for Mildura customers are designed in coordination with CMTP’s Colac-based 3D CAD design team, based on product dimensions, weight requirements, handling methods, and transport conditions.

Do your export pallets meet international requirements?

Yes. CMTP manufactures ISPM 15 certified export pallets that comply with international timber packaging requirements for export freight.

How quickly can I order pallets from CMTP Mildura?

3-4 days is a typical lead time for standard CMTP products. Custom builds run longer depending on the design. Contact the Mildura team for current availability, and call for express orders.

What pallet sizes can I order from CMTP Mildura?

The Australian standard 1165 x 1165 pallet is the most common order, alongside Euro and US export footprints. Mildura also builds to custom dimensions where a standard footprint doesn’t suit the product or the container. Tell the team the load, the handling equipment and the destination and they’ll spec it.

What's the difference between a timber pallet and an export pallet?

An export pallet is a timber pallet that has been heat treated and certified to ISPM 15, which is what lets it leave the country. Any solid timber packaging heading overseas has to meet it. If your freight stays in Australia a standard wooden pallet does the job. If it is going on a ship or a plane it needs to be an export pallet.

Do you manufacture produce bins at Mildura?

Yes. Produce bins and bulk bins are a core part of the Mildura order book. Wooden bins protect perishable goods and keep produce fresher for longer, and they’re a sustainable alternative to plastic. Bins are built to suit growers’ handling requirements, including one tonne, half tonne and quarter tonne capacities, and can be designed to your own specification where a standard bin doesn’t fit the operation.

Can produce bins be used for export?

Yes, provided they’re ISPM 15 certified. Any solid timber packaging leaving Australia has to meet ISPM 15, and that applies to produce bins and bulk bins the same way it applies to pallets. CMTP manufactures ISPM 15 certified timber packaging, so bins destined for international freight are treated and marked to comply. Tell the Mildura team the destination market when you order, because some countries add their own requirements on top of ISPM 15.

Can CMTP design a pallet or crate for an unusual product?

Yes. CMTP runs a 3D CAD design capability based at the Colac head office, so Mildura customers can have a pallet, case or crate engineered around the product rather than forcing the product onto a standard footprint.

What do you need from me to quote a custom build?

Product dimensions and weight, how it’s handled (forklift, pallet jack, crane), how it’s transported and where it’s going, and any compliance requirements such as ISPM 15 or food grade. The more of that you have up front, the faster the Mildura team can come back with a spec and a price.
